The Meteorological Department has issued an avalanche warning for high-altitude areas in Chamba, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti. The alert, released by the Defence Geoinformatics Research Establishment (DGRE), Chandigarh, highlights the risk of avalanches due to continuous snowfall and extreme weather conditions.
Fresh Snowfall Reported in Several Areas
Recent snowfall has been recorded in various regions:
- Gondla: 8 cm
- Kukumseri: 4.2 cm
- Kalpa: 2 cm
In some areas, road closures have made it difficult for residents, forcing villagers to transport sick individuals on palanquins to reach hospitals.
Heavy Rainfall & Thunderstorms in Himachal
Several places have received intermittent rain, including:
- Kotkhai: 16.1 mm
- Rohru: 15 mm
- Saloni: 14.2 mm
- Kufri & Theog: 12 mm each
- Kasauli: 11 mm
- Kalpa: 10.6 mm
- Manali: 8 mm
- Shimla: 6.2 mm
Additionally, thunderstorms have been observed in Bhuntar, Jot, and Palampur, while Kufri experienced hailstorms. Kukumseri recorded the lowest temperature at -2.6°C.

Himachal Pradesh has received above-average rainfall, surpassing the usual levels for this period.
