Groom Files Fraud Complaint After Bride’s Sudden Disappearance
A shocking case of marriage fraud has surfaced in Sahi village, where a newlywed bride disappeared hours after the wedding, taking cash and jewellery with her. The groom, Jitesh Sharma, has lodged a police complaint, alleging that he was cheated in the name of marriage.
Bride Leaves After Wedding, Stops Responding
According to police officials, Sharma got married to Babita on December 13, 2024, at a temple in his village. Since the bride did not have a birth certificate, a court marriage could not take place. The wedding was performed with full rituals in front of the groom’s family.
Marriage Arranger Demanded Money
Sharma further alleged that a person named Baldev Sharma took ₹1.50 lakh from him to arrange the marriage. Soon after the wedding, the bride left for her home in Yamunanagar, Haryana, stating that her mother was unwell. She took all the jewellery and promised to return within two days. However, she later stopped answering calls.
Investigation Underway
The groom also claimed that Baldev Sharma started avoiding him and refused to return the money and jewellery. Following this, Sharma filed a complaint with the police.
Hamirpur Superintendent of Police (SP Bhagat Singh) confirmed that a case has been registered, and a detailed investigation is underway to track the accused.
