Rahul Gandhi Champions Sister Priyanka’s Candidacy in Wayanad, Promising Dual Representation

In a public meeting today, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi emphasized that Wayanad will have two Members of Parliament (MPs) as his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, filed her nomination for the upcoming Lok Sabha bypoll.

Rahul Gandhi’s Support for Priyanka

While addressing a crowd in Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi expressed his strong bond with the constituency, stating, “Wayanad will have two MPs—one official and one unofficial—and both will collaborate to safeguard its interests.” He underscored the importance of Priyanka’s candidacy, noting the deep connection he shares with the people of Wayanad.

Rahul Gandhi, who previously represented Wayanad from 2019 to 2024, explained that his decision to retain the Rae Bareli seat led to this bypoll opportunity. He said, “What Wayanad has done for me cannot be expressed in words. The only way to show gratitude is through action.”

A Personal Touch

In his speech, Rahul shared personal stories about Priyanka, recalling her caring nature from a young age. He highlighted her commitment to family and friends, saying, “A person who is willing to do so much for her friends will do even more for her family.” He mentioned that after their father passed away, Priyanka took on the responsibility of caring for their mother at just 17 years old.

A Call to Action

Rahul Gandhi requested the people of Wayanad to support his sister, stating, “This rakhi on my wrist, made by her, symbolizes a brother’s protection. I urge you to look after my sister and ensure she is safe.” He reassured the audience, saying, “She will devote her energy to serving the people of Wayanad. And don’t forget, I am the unofficial MP, so I am here to help.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s Campaign Journey

In her remarks, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra acknowledged her extensive campaign experience, stating, “I have been campaigning for 35 years, but this is the first time I am seeking votes for myself. It feels different.” She expressed gratitude to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for the opportunity and promised to honor the constituency if elected.
