Sukhu Urges Jairam Thakur to Prioritize Disaster Relief Over Panchayat Elections in Himachal Pradesh

Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh – Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu urged Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur to stop focusing on the upcoming Panchayat elections and prioritize the implementation of disaster relief measures announced by the Prime Minister. Sukhu emphasized the need for Himachal Pradesh BJP leaders to secure a relief package of ₹1,500 crore to support affected communities.

During a visit to the Barsar assembly constituency, the Chief Minister highlighted that the state government will provide relief to disaster-affected people after November 1, underscoring that public welfare is a top priority. He further mentioned that he does not pay attention to comments on social media, stressing governance over political distractions.

At the inauguration of the Barsar mini-secretariat, Sukhu called on MLA Indradutt Lakhanpal to come forward, urging officials to show respect to elected representatives. He also criticized the performance of BJP MPs from Himachal Pradesh, urging them to actively facilitate disaster relief for the state.

In his address, the Chief Minister reflected on past political events, noting that during the 2024 Assembly by-elections, decency was compromised, and dishonesty prevailed, pointing to involvement from two MLAs from Hamirpur district, including the Barsar MLA.

Sukhu’s remarks reinforce the state government’s commitment to disaster management, public welfare, and accountable governance, while sending a clear message to the opposition to prioritize people-centric initiatives over electoral politics.
