Himachal MLA’s Drug Accusations Against Punjab Spark Strong AAP Response

Himachal Pradesh Congress legislator, Chandrashekhar Thakur, recently accused Punjab of being responsible for the drug problem in his state. Thakur alleged that drugs like “chitta” were being supplied from Punjab, destabilizing Himachal’s youth. These comments have caused widespread controversy, prompting a strong response from various political groups.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab condemned Thakur’s accusations, calling them baseless and a deliberate attempt to deflect attention from Himachal’s internal drug issues. AAP spokesperson Neel Garg emphasized that the Congress party has failed to tackle drug trafficking in its own state, despite several illegal drug manufacturing hubs identified in Himachal Pradesh. Garg pointed out the irony of Congress blaming Punjab, despite their own inability to address the growing drug menace in Himachal.

Furthermore, Garg questioned the silence of Punjab Congress leaders like Raja Warring and Partap Singh Bajwa regarding Thakur’s remarks, urging them to clarify their stance on the matter. He also reminded everyone that drug trafficking is a national issue, with drugs flowing into Punjab from various states, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra, as well as from international sources.

In conclusion, Garg stated that Punjab has been at the forefront of tackling the drug menace and should not be unfairly blamed, especially when it continues to battle the issue on multiple fronts.
