Heavy Rainfall and Damage Overview
Since the monsoon began on June 20, Himachal Pradesh has suffered losses exceeding Rs 1,500 crore, officials reported on Sunday. The ongoing rains have caused severe disruption across the state.
Casualties and Missing Persons
Tragically, 88 people have died and 35 remain missing due to rain-related accidents. The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) confirms the destruction of 1,316 houses, either fully or partially damaged.
Severe Weather Incidents
During this monsoon season, the state has experienced 42 flash floods, 25 cloudbursts, and 32 landslides, adding to the overall devastation.
Weather Alert and Forecast
The local Meteorological Department issued an orange alert on Sunday, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning in isolated areas. The warning covers four districts: Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla for Tuesday.

Infrastructure Impact
Nearly 200 roads, including two national highways, were closed on Sunday evening due to flooding and landslides. In Mandi district alone, 131 roads, including the Manali-Kotali road (NH-70), remain blocked following multiple cloudbursts on June 30. Landslides have also blocked the Sainj to Aut road (NH-305) in Kullu district.
Additionally, 75 power distribution transformers and 97 water supply schemes have been affected statewide.
Temperature Overview
There was little change in temperatures, with Kukumseri recording the coldest night at 12.8°C and Una the warmest day at 35.6°C.
